Assam Records 55 Deaths and 4,826 Fresh Active Cases, Parts of Guwahati Adopts New COVID Measures Starting Today

From today 3 wards in Guwahati have been declared as Contanimnet Zones- parts of Ward no. 8, 16, and 28.

GUWAHATI: Assam on May 6 recorded the highest number of deaths at 55 and active cases of 4,826.

"Summary of 05/5/2021: Today's Total 4826. Overall Positivity Percentage (4826 cases out of 52074 test done = 9.27%). Kamrup(M) 1383; Death 55; Recovery Rate 87.99," health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

Earlier on the day, health minister Sarma visited the railway coaches prepared by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to be used as Covid care Centre.

Sarma informed that the Railway has offered 1,500 coaches to be used as Covid Care Centres.

"In a booster dose of sorts,@RailMinIndia has offered us, 1500 coaches, to be used as part of #CovidCareCentre. These shall be equipped with Oxygen cylinders. Visited Guwahati Railway station to review it. Grateful to PM Sri @narendramodi and Sri @PiyushGoyal," Sarma tweeted.

On the other hand, starting today, 3 wards in Guwahati have been declared as Contanimnet Zones- parts of Ward no. 8, 16 and 28.

The order will be effective from 2 PM and will remain in force until orders, with the DC adding that the situation will be reviewed periodically before lifting or extending the order.

Further, in the containment zones, grocery, fruit, and milk shops will be allowed to open from 8 AM to 12 noon, while mobile vending and home delivery of essentials, including vegetables, meat, and fish, will also be allowed. Eastern Side of Basistha Road upto southeastern extreme boundary of Basistha village of Basistha Road.

WARD 16

On the northern side AK Dev Road to Ambari Tinali up to Morabhorolu and Lakhara.

On the eastern side, Morabhorolu up to glass factory to Lakhara road, the eastern side of Lakhara road to Dhuboria road

On the southern side, Lakhara to Dhuboria road from bye lane 2 up to Morabhorolu.

On the western side, Morabhorolu to bye lane 2 from Dhubolia, Itabola junction to AK Road to Ambari Temple.

WARD 08

On the northern side, the central line of Brahmaputra to the back of Sonaram field up to Kedar road.

On the eastern side, Kedar road to AT road up to Chabipool and Satijoymoti road.

On the southern side, east of Netaji Subhas Road upto Fatasil Bridge upto GS Colony road.

On the western side, River Bharalu to AT Road to Sonaram field.
