Assam Sah Mazdoor Sangha Demand Bonus before Durga Puja

GUWAHATI: With the grand Durga puja festivities round the corner in the State, various organizations are expected to offer a salary bonus to the employees. The Assam Sah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), in view of the upcoming festivities, have demanded bonus for all the tea labourers before September 5.

The Assam Sah Mazdoor Sangha had an urgent executive meeting at Dibrugarh on Wednesday, where the tea labourers’ bonus allowances along with other matters were discussed. There are 20 thousand workers in the State government-owned 15 tea estates of Assam Tea Corporation Limited (ATCL). The sangha, in view of the upcoming Durga pujo festivities, have demanded 20 percent bonus for all the tea labourers before September 5.

Moreover, an increase in the daily wage of Rs 137 was also demanded along with release of the stalled arrears. Complaining that the tea labourers’ were neglected from the being provided with the facilities mandated under the Tea Labour Act, the sangha also insisted on implementing the conveniences.
