GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers' Association (ASPTA) has organized an online teaching-learning material (TLM) preparation competition for teachers in a bid to further improve teaching methodology for young children.
According to ASPTA general secretary Ratul Chandra Goswami, the teaching-learning material prepared on paper and other material have comparatively short life spans. Previously, the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), Assam use to prove financial assistance for preparation of TLM. However, that system remains suspended over the last few years. As a result, the availability of TLM is decreasing in various schools of the State, he said.
Further, he pointed out that the new academic session (2022-2023) has started on full scale after the two-year interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, Goswami said, children will be attracted to studies only if the teaching methods are made more enjoyable and visually appealing.
He said that science and technology have made it possible to do something perfectly at one go and then preserve it. Moreover, innovative online TLM methods can be shared by one school with other schools.
Goswami said that the digital cell of the ASPTA has organized the online competition with the aims of collecting adequate quantity of TLM and thereby benefit both teachers and students.
The ASPTA general secretary requested all participants to submit TLM videos of short duration by May 20. The videos will have to be submitted to certain WhatsApp numbers made available by the ASPTA.
The ASPTA will then upload the videos on its EDUPATH ASPTA Youtube channel by June 20 and the videos will be rated in July on the basis of respective viewership, Goswami said.
He appealed to all primary school teachers to participate in the online competition and help the ASPTA to achieve its goal.
