Assam State Primary Teachers' Association supports anti-NPS stir

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers' Association (ASPTA) has extended its support to the nation-wide observance of 'Black Day' and token cease-work programme called on February 1 by the Assam State Committee of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the All Assam Government NPS (National Pension System) Employees' Association.

ASPTA principal secretary Ratul Chandra Goswami said on Saturday that they have been voicing their opposition to the New Pension System since 2006. This opposition is being carried out under the guidance of the All India Primary Teachers' Federation (AIPTF), he said.

Goswami added that all organizations opposing the NPS and favouring the OPS will fight jointly for their cause.

It may be mentioned that the All Assam Government NPS (National Pension System) Employees' Association is an umbrella organization comprising around two lakh Government officers, teachers, employees and police personnel.
