GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers’ Association has written to the Director of Elementary Education (DEE), Government of Assam, that they will take their protests to the next level.

The teachers’ organization said that even after repeated attempts and submitting multiple letters, the department concerned has not any steps towards the resolution of the problems faced by the primary school teachers of the State. It stated that the Assam State Primary Teachers’ Association, Nikhil Bodo Prarthamik Sikhok Santa, All Assam TET Passed Teachers Association and State Pool Teachers Association had decided to implement further protests.

Block-wise meetings will be organized to share the problems faced by teachers because of the lack of a Head Teacher position in the primary schools. Teachers will not accept the additional Rs 300 given to them instead of appointing teachers in the vacant positions from the month of July and that they will hand over the formal letters mentioning the same to the Block Education Officer on July 19.

An application regarding the appointment of Head Teachers with the signatures of over one lakh teachers will be submitted to the Chief Minister on July 4. The Association also expressed displeasure over the use of police forces to dominate the teachers in the Borborua Education Block of the Dibrugarh district.
