GUWAHATI: Sadou Asom Sanmilita Sikshak Mancha (SASSM) welcomed the government’s decision to regularize the jobs of contractual and state pool teachers. But the Mancha have expressed their dissatisfaction to the point that upon regularizing their jobs, the teachers will be recruited as new appointees.

The Mancha said that “the teachers have gained experience and skills after working for so many years. The teachers also get a yearly increment of about 3 per cent of the basic pay in July, and along with that, the Dearness Allowance (DA) is also added. So, as per the condition proposed by the Education Minister on regularizing the jobs of contractual and state pool teachers, it will be an injustice for them. Regularizing their jobs will also result in a decrease in pay rather than an increase, which will cause them a sense of social inferiority. This will act as a deception for the teachers.”

The Mancha further said, “The government should unconditionally regularize the jobs of the teachers at all levels with retirement benefits like other teachers and employees.”
