GUWAHATI: The Water Resources Department closed the Bharalumukh sluice gate to prevent the outflow of waters from the Brahmaputra. The mighty river is full to the brim. Its water level touched the danger level (49.5 metres against 49.68) at 8 this morning. The water of the Brahmaputra was 48.68 metres yesterday. According to the department, the water level of the Brahmaputra is going up by 1 cm per hour now.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, Guwahati recorded 8.8 mm of rainfall.
