GUWAHATI: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Assam police organized a programme entitled ‘Women in Assam Police’ on Wednesday at the Police Officers’ Mess, Ulubari.
At the programme, various women police participated and shared their experience of their working life, which was moderated by famous singer Zublee Baruah. Deputy inspector general (CID) Indrani Baruah shared the history of women in the Assam police. Deputy Inspector General (SB) Ratna Singha expressed the juggle between the professional and personal lives.
Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Leena Doley shares her experience about eviction drives and how she tackles law and order situations in the districts. Sijal Agarwala, SDPO (Rangia), also shares her feelings comparing the life of a common person with that of a police officer. She expressed her journey of becoming a police officer that started right after her post-graduation, which was a total transformation for her.
Also, they intimated a lot of experiences regarding basic amenities, like access to a proper toilet or other necessities. But these are now taken proper care of to a greater extent, but still a lot has to be faced by women as a whole. The family’s support is necessary to work in these forces. The acceptance of challenges and prioritizing them in this field is of the utmost importance while balancing the family and professional life.
