GUWAHATI: In order to accelerate the growth of livestock & dairy sector in the country through the latest innovations and technologies, the Government of India has constituted a 'Research and Technology Advisory committee' consisting of eminent scholars under the Chairmanship of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister, with Dr K.M. Bujarbaruah, former Vice-Chancellor and former Deputy Director of ICAR, New-Delhi as a member.

The terms of reference of this committee, among others, are to review the ongoing research in various areas of the sector; assess short-term and long-term needs for research and innovations; advise specific programmes for addition or deletion; consolidation of resources for avoiding overlapping of research efforts in different departments; ascertain better inter-sectoral collaboration and coordination among various sciences; recommend innovative technologies etc.

The committee shall start its function from November 2, 2020, stated a release.
