GUWAHATI: Aiming to improve the prospects, status and enhance the role of architects in this region, the Association of Architects Assam (AAA) is going to organize a workshop on Bamboo Technology in construction.
Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club on Monday, Association of Architects Assam said that by looking at the future growth and potential of Bamboo Technology in this region, AAA is going to organize this workshop from November 13 to November 16 at the Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre. The four day workshop will be attended by 35-40 practicing architects, students of architecture, entrepreneurs and specialists working in the field of Bamboo Technology and propagation from the NE region and other parts of India and abroad. Besides receiving the technical inputs on bamboo construction and technology, the participants will also have field work and designing and developing Bamboo prototype models.
The association said that the workshop will be further presented in a one day symposium on “Bamboo Technology in construction” that will be held at NEDFI House on December 9 and it is expected that the symposium will come out with a vision with positive recommendation for the central and state governments for effective utilization of this natural resource available in this region. The association also said that it is the time for the architects and technocrats of this region to work hand in hand to propagate cost effective appropriate Bamboo Technology which is affordable, eco-friendly and sustainable.
