GUWAHATI: With a few days left for the Durga Puja festivities, artisans and workers have geared up for the beautification of the pandals and giving final touches to the idols. Every year, Guwahati gears up with various themes, and this year too, various puja pandals have come up with different themes to catch the attention of people.
This year, Athgaon is all set to attract people with their 'tribal-themed' puja pandal. The Athgaon Durga Puja Sarbajanin committee initiated their puja celebrations way back in 1983. The festivities will run from October 19 until October 24, paying tribute to the tribal community.
According to one of the committee members, "This year we are presenting a tribal-themed pandal, giving a tribute to the unique culture, representations, lifestyles, and others."
Another one said, "We have used various materials like thermocol, plywood, and EVA foam for the construction of the pandal. We have invested Rs 28 lakh for this tribal-themed puja pandal so that it looks aesthetic in the eyes of the people."
