Attack on ex-MLA Miyan's house; one arrested in Guwahati

The attack on the Hatigaon residence of former Congress MLA Ali Akbar Miyan has taken a new turn with the arrest of one Hussain Ali on Saturday.

GUWAHATI: The attack on the Hatigaon residence of former Congress MLA Ali Akbar Miyan has taken a new turn with the arrest of one Hussain Ali on Saturday. Hussain was arrested on the charge of 'wreaking vengeance' on the two nieces of the former MLA.

According to the police, Hussain Ali was also caught in November 2019 on the charge stealing a mobile phone from the ex-MLA's house and handed him over to the police.

Hussain originally hails from West Bengal but is now staying near Majar under Hatigaon police station in Guwahati. It was on the night of December 13, 2020 unidentified miscreants had entered the flat of the former MLA in Bakulban Housing Complex under Hatigaon Police Station and assaulted his two nieces – Jasminara Ahmed (25) and Nilofa Akhtar (24). Both the victims were hit on their heads. Both the girls were admitted to a private hospital in critical condition, and Akhtar succumbed to her injuries.
