GUWAHATI: The election officers of the Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) will seal the ballot boxes coming to Meghdoot Bhawan, Guwahati on December 5 in front of the candidates. The Xabha will count the votes on December 24, 2022. Till then, the ballot boxes will remain under the custody of the Panbazar police station.
The AXX conducted the election for its president, vice president and secretary general this time for the 2023-25 term.
The contesting candidates for the post of the president are Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi, Surya Hazarika, Dr Jagadish Patgiri, Prahlad Chandra Tasa and Nahendra Padun. The candidates vying for the vice president are Girish Handique (Tinsukia), Dhiren Sarma of Guwahati, Dr Basanta Kumar Sarma of Baksa, Ganesh Chandra Nath of Baksa and Gobinda Talukdar of Barpeta. The candidates for secretary-general are Debojit Bora of Guwahati, Anup Kumar Barthakur of Hojai, Upendrajit Sarma of Dhubri, Jadav Chandra Sarma of Guwahati and Romanandan Bora of Jorhat.
