Bar on food distribution during Ambubachi Mela in Kamakhya temple

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) district administration has strictly prohibited unauthorized distribution of food stuff on the main road and any other venue during the ensuing Ambubachi Mela in the Kamakhya temple.

Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha said at a press conference here on Monday that only organizations authorized by the district administration will be able to serve food at designated camps as per guidelines.

From the foothills up to the Kamakhya temple, only drinking water can be distributed. The organizations allowed by district administration will serve drinking water along the road from the foothills up to the shrine as per zones allotted to them. No dry foods/biscuits will be allowed on this route.

The Deputy Commissioner further informed that as part of security measures, the district administration will install 500 CCTV cameras along the route, while the Kamakhya Devalaya authority will install another 300 CCTV cameras on their own.
