BDF Demands Protection of Tribal Belts and Blocks

GUWAHATI: The Boro Diaspora Forum (BDF) congratulated Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, and his cabinet on forming a new Government in Assam.

Further, in a letter the BDF highlighted few concerns and urged the government to implement, Strengthening of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration in accordance with the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.

Further, protection of Land Rights of Boro and other indigenous tribal people of the state by strict implementation of provisions of tribal belts and block guideline i.e. as laid down under Chapter X of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation Act,1886. Also, settlement of thousands of Boro people and other tribals residing in the erstwhile Reserve Forests in the State.

The BDF also urged for the implementation of the third Boro Peace Accord signed on 27th January 2020 in letter and spirit.

Honorable and practical rehabilitation to former members of all factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) who laid down their arms and signed the third Boro Peace Accord on the 27th January 2020 to bring peace and development in the State, and meaningful recognition of the aspirations of the Boro people as regards their culture and identity.

The BDF further expressed their trust and hope that under the leadership of the Chief Minister peace, stability and all round development of all communities living in the State would scale newer heights.
