GUWAHATI: Lakhya Konwar, the spokesperson for the Assam state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has called the ‘Ek Asom Yatra’ undertaken by the president of the Asom Jatiya Parishad a “laughable programme”. Lurinjyoti Gogoi has stated the initiative to travel from Dhubri in Lower Assam to Sadiya in Upper Assam. Addressing a press meet at the state head office of the party, he called this initiative completely politically motivated and an attempt to malign the hard work and image of the chief minister of the state. He said that at a time when the government is trying to bring unity between various communities residing in the state, Lurinjyoti Gogoi is saying that the party wants to create division.

He mentioned that the current government is trying to promote the great leaders from the state, including Lachit Borphukan and several others, on a national and international level. He also questioned if this initiative was for the appeasement of the illegal immigrants in the state.
