GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) have arrived at a seat-sharing arrangement for the forthcoming Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) election. As per the arrangement, the BJP will contest in 53 wards while the AGP will contest in the remaining seven wards.
This was finalized at a meeting between the two allies on Sunday.
The wards ceded to the AGP include five wards under the West Guwahati Assembly constituency and one each in the East Guwahati and Dispur Assembly constituencies.
Sources said that the AGP leadership is unhappy at the meagre number of wards given as its share.
