GUWAHATI: The president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Bhupen Borah, mentioned that he cannot deny that any person leaving the party causes losses to the party, even if it is temporary, adding that many members have left the party over the years. Saying that in the state itself, many people have left the party, including two state presidents, he pointed out that the Congress continues to work towards discharging its duties to the people of the state as the opposition party. He said that there are members of his party working on the instructions of the BJP, and they have been identified, and that only those who have been loyal to the party and its ideologies will be given candidatures in the coming elections.
Bhupen Borah also mentioned that he has informed the AICC core committee in Delhi regarding who is involved in such activities, and in return, he has been given the duty of bringing about changes in the party, including reshuffles at the state, district, and block levels of the party. He said that those who do not follow the rules of the party will be relieved of their duties.
He informed that the new district president for Nagaon will be named soon, and the duty has been given to APCC working president Rana Goswami to interact with the MLA, MP, and block-level members of the party and decide who will take charge of the position.
Meanwhile, Naba Talukdar, the district president for Kamrup Metropolitan, withdrew the resignation that he had submitted earlier after discussions with the senior party members.
