GUWAHATI: Two boys including one minor were apprehended by the Birubari Police on charges of raping a minor girl on Wednesday.
According to police sources, one 16-year-old boy and another 22-year-old boy named Nayan Baroi were arrested by the police after an FIR was filed in the Birubari Out Post by the victim, who is a 16-year-old girl. The victim mentioned that the accused had been engaging in such activities for a very long time, but finally she mustered the courage to reach out to the police on Wednesday.
It must be noted that the victim and her father have been residing as tenants in the house belonging to the accused minor and the second accused Nayan Baroi is his cousin by relationship.
Meanwhile, Birubari Outpost, which comes under the Paltan Bazar Police Station took action regarding the complaint and arrested the boys from Birubari on Wednesday night. A case with registered with the Paltan Bazar Police Station with Case No 469/ 2023 under sections 448/ 376/ 34 of the Indian Penal Code, read with Section 4/8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Both the accused were presented before the Court on Thursday and the Court sent the minor to the observation home in Boko and Nayan Baroi to judicial custody.
