Bishnupriya Manipuris reiterate demand for territorial council in satellite system

The Bishnupriya Manipuri Territorial Council Demand Committee (BMTCDC) has reiterated its demand for a Bishnupriya Manipuri Territorial Council in satellite system in the Bishnupriya Manipuri concentrated localities in the State.

GUWAHATI: The Bishnupriya Manipuri Territorial Council Demand Committee (BMTCDC) has reiterated its demand for a Bishnupriya Manipuri Territorial Council in satellite system in the Bishnupriya Manipuri concentrated localities in the State. Along with ST status, the committee has also demanded inclusion of the Bishnupriya Manipuris in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India.

Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the committee Bidhan Sinha stated that the letter no. 13/5/73-B (P), dated 29-04-1975 under the Minister of Information and Broadcasting should be revived and implemented under the Right to Equal Opportunities under Vienna Declaration/UNESCO Verdict/UNO Charters and similar other international Laws and Acts.

Through a release, the committee stated that the Sri Krishna Rukmini Kalakshetra (SKRK) should be declared as the Sri Krishna Rukmini Kalakshetra University in Cachar district.

Other demands of the committee include:

- Establishment of Rastriya Sanskrit Vidylayas in each and every Gaon Panchayat/Village council of Assam.

- Establishment of BEKIPAR Government Sanskrit College and Dispur Government Sanskrit College as per Right to Education.

- Declaration of Rukmini River as Rukmini Heritage River.

- Declaration of 32 no. Narsingpur Gaon Panchayat as the Rukmini Nagar Rural Township.

- Financial assistance to the Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Academy.

- Declaration of Kalkalighat Railway Station as the Sahid Sudeshna Sinha Railway Station.
