Biswajit Daimary, Emmanuel Mushahary joins BJP today

CM Sarbananda Sonowal calls it a “good sign” for the party

Guwahati: Two former Bodoland People's Front (BPF) leaders, Biswajit Daimary and Emmanuel Mushahary joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday morning at the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sopnowal's official residence.

CM Sonowal shared a video of welcoming the two Bodo community leaders on his official Twitter account. Sonowal wrote, "Glad to welcome senior Bodo community leaders, Shri Biswajit Daimary and Shri Emmanuel Mushahary to the @BJP4India family. Their joining adds more strength to @BJP4Assam. Addressed the media on the occasion with President Shri @RanjeetkrDass, National GS Shri @DilipSaikia4Bjp."

Addressing the media, CM Sonowal said that both, Daimary and Mushahary, have played crucial roles in the state. The joining of the two leaders ahead of the BTC elections is a good sign for the party. Sonowal said that they are confident that BJP will form the government in BTAD this year.

Sonowal is also grateful to the people of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri districts, who have trusted and accepted the BJP party.

Daimary, the founding leader of BPF was an MLA in the Assam Legislative Assembly from 2001-2006, and a Rajya Sabha MP from 2008-2014 and 2014-2020. On the other hand, Mushahary was the Tamulpur MLA and senior BPF leader.

CM Sonowal welcomed them both in the presence of BJP Assam president, Ranjeet Kumar Dass and BJP national general secretary, Dilip Saikia.

The BTC elections will take place in two phases, on December 7 and December 10. The counting of the votes will take place on December 12.
