GUWAHATI: The BJP-AGP parleys on alliance and Assembly poll strategy will be started after the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) poll results. The BTC poll results will be declared on December 12.

According to insiders in the BJP and the AGP, both the parties have started survey on their own to ascertain their respective LAC (Legislative Assembly Constituency)-wise party bases and candidates. Such surveys are crucial for determining the winning prospects of the two coalition partners in various LACs.

In the event of the proposed alliance between the Congress and the AIUDF becoming a reality, the surveys are studying the demographic influence in the LACs in lower and central Assam.

After the recent top-level meeting of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, NEDA (North East Democratic Alliance) convener Himanta Biswa Sarma and State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass with party's national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently, it has become clear that the BJP is going to continue its alliance with the AGP for the 2021 Assembly poll, while its alliance with the BPF has come under clouds.
