GUWAHATI: The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) Assam Pradesh on Friday formed a Migrant Labourers' Samparka Cell to address the problems of the labourers who have returned to the State.

State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has appointed party secretary Amiyo Kumar Bhuyan and party spokesperson Subhash Dutta as the incharge and co-incharge of the Cell respectively. The Cell will aim to solve various issues of the labourers who have lost employment after returning to the State. According to reports, Dass has also appointed an incharge for each of the 126 Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LAC). Later, the LAC incharges will appoint mandal wise incharges in their respective constituencies.

Talking to The Sentinel, State BJP general secretary Pulak Gohain said that members of the Cell will meet every the families of every labour who has returned to the State.

"The mandal incharges will meet every family in their constituency and make a report comprising the data of the labourers. Information will be taken regarding their income, working State, skills following which a report will be submitted to the State committee. Based on the report, measures will be taken to include these workers under various schemes of the Assam government," said Gohain.
