GUWAHATI: "After forming a party in Assam by poaching members from other political parties, the BJP (BharatiyaJanata Party) now says that they want cadres of the Congress instead of leaders. This means that they are now aware of the fact that their supporters at grassroots are fast fading away. They are now trying to poach workers of other parties. Everyone is aware that their entire party is formed with migrant leaders," stated the APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) in a release on Friday.

APCC Media Department Chairperson Bobbeeta Sharma said that State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has claimed that they are not willing to induct any leader who is from another party into the BJP but most of their leaders are migrants from other parties including Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal.

"Many Ministers in CM Sonowal's Cabinet are also from other parties. The BJP over the years have been poaching members of other parties by various kinds of pressure, vindictiveness and blackmailing tactics. People are aware that many presently powerful BJP ministers had joined the party due such tactics as BJP is adept at keeping the sword of Damocles hanging over their heads lest they don't join the party," Sharma opined.

She stressed that the Congress' grassroot-level workers are aware of the agenda of the BJP in dividing the people of Assam in order to hide their disastrous rule of 5 years filled with rampant corruption like SI scam, PNRD scam, rising unemployment, uncontrolled price rise that has made life increasingly difficult for the common man to survive.

The State BJP president should first response to these failures rather than give speeches to poach supporters from other parties, she added.
