GUWAHATI: Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Public Enterprise & Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal arrived in the city on Saturday and announced that the ‘Sewa Saptah’ will launch from September 14.
Meghwal, who has been appointed as the NE incharge of the Sewa Saptah said, “There will be various programmes during the entire week that will be conducted in view of public interest. The first programme will be a benefit for hospitals and patients suffering from critical illnesses, to which medicines will be provided. State BJP has already made an assessment of patients and hospitals in need of medicine.” Other programmes integrated into the Sewa Saptah include encouraging minimum 10 to 100 PWD (Persons With Disabilities) adoption through NGOs and other social organizations, who will be financially aided as well.
“On August 15, the Prime Minister advocated a speech on plastic ban and thought the Sewa Saptah, we will try to generate awareness against the use of SUP (Single Use Plastic) and conduct seminars in educational institutions. We will also raise water conservation awareness so that the people are more conscious about water usage,” said Meghwal.
