BJP will come to power in Assam: Anurag Singh Thakur

Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur expressed his gratitude by saying that the Assamese people have shown that their votes will let the BJP win once again.

GUWAHATI: Union Minister of State for Finance & Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur expressed his gratitude by saying that the Assamese people have shown that their votes will let the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) win once again.

Addressing a press meet at the media cell of BJP at Khanapara on Satuday, Thakur said that the BJP has got the maximum votes in the first and second phases of Assam Assembly election; and it will be repeated in the third phase too.

Thakur took a dig at the Congress by saying that the way the oldest political party referred to Badaruddin Ajmal as Assam's identity is totally shameful because Assam is known as Maa Kamakhya's land. Thakur also raised Badruddin Ajmal's 'Gamosa-insulting' issue and slammed Rahul Gandhi for considering him "as Assam's identity for their political profit". By expressing grief on the comment of a leader of the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front on forming a government by "men with beard, skullcap and lungi", Thakur said that the Congress is must answer on this comment.

Thakur also mentioned that the BJP has proved their efficiency by completing several works in the five years of its tenure which were undone by the Congress in their 60 years of tenure. Criticizing former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Thakur said that Singh visited Assam only for 10 times in his term, but Narendra Modi visited Assam more than 35 times in the last five years; and it demonstrates PM Modi's affection towards the people of Assam.

Thakur also commented that the BJP has given Rs 10,727 crore in 2019-20 to Assam but the Congress had given Rs 1,100 crore in 2009-10 from the Finance department. Various schemes for the development of Xatras and Namghars in Assam, PM Modi's initiative on COVID-19 era were also reflected in Thakur's speech. Singh said that Congress was responsible for violence in Assam and he also urged the Assamese people to vote for the BJP if they want a peaceful and developed State.

Further, Sri Thakur mentioned that 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas aur Sabka Viswas' is BJP's main motto and they will keep it forever".

Also present on the occasion were the party's national spokesperson K.K. Sharma, State BJP secretary Dipluranjan Sarma, convener of State media cell Dewan Dhruba Jyoti Maral, convener of economic cell Dr Debajit Mahant and State Media panelist Ritubaran Sharma, stated a press release.
