GUWAHATI: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, members of various women organizations tied rakhi to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Ministers' Colony, Dispur in the city on Sunday.

Talking to media persons, the Chief Minister said, "Raksha Bandhan is an auspicious occasion for brothers and sisters. By tying the rakhi, sisters seek protection from their brothers and brothers seek love and blessings. Today so many sisters have tied rakhi to me, I feel blessed. I hope their blessings will give me the strength to work harder for the State and the people."

After the Raksha Bandhan programme, the Chief Minister left for the two-day DCs' conference in Diphu. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister twitted, "Deeply moved by the warm gesture of my beloved sisters belonging to different organisations, who tied Rakhi to me. On the auspicious occasion of #RakshaBandhan, which celebrates the eternal bond between brothers and sisters, I extended my heartfelt greetings to everyone."
