GUWAHATI: With Guwahati emerging as a developed city every day, the number of cars is also increasing, but with an unfortunate paradox where there have been increased numbers of unattended cars, be they damaged in accidents or others. The vehicles are dumped on the roadside, which not only creates traffic but also chaos among the people. Few vehicles are dumped in areas where there is a market, and this poses congestion among the buyers and sellers.

According to one commuter, "There are damaged vehicles dumped, which fall under the Dispur police station. There should be a permanent solution regarding this, as this pathetic condition cannot be avoided. We also see this condition in front of the police station."

The lack of road etiquette is an alarming situation in Guwahati, and on top of that, these damaged cars are an added nuisance. One said, "Already, the management of traffic is very bad, and the dumped cars are another reason to be worried about. This area is already a busy area; rickshaw pullers, markets create more congestion, and these cars create more problems."

According to police officials, "We do not have sufficient space to park these dumped cars. Dispur is a big area, and accidents do happen every other day, but as there is less space, we have no other option but to park these cars on the roadside, as we've also got no other option left. We were informed that a place will be allotted for these cars, but we do not have full information as we work on traffic points and do not have an idea regarding the decision.
