GUWAHATI: Byatikram MASDO, one of the leading socio-cultural organizations, attended a meeting with Assam's Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Wednesday regarding the ongoing 60-day anti-drug, tobacco and liquor awareness campaign.
The Byatikram MASDO team was led by its president Dr Saumen Bharatiya and included members such as Kavery Sharma Baruah, Pinky Das, Disha Chowdhury and Aritra Roy along with counselling psychologists Dixeeta Garg and Jahnabi Sharma, stated a press release.
During the meeting, team Byatikram apprised the Governor about various awareness activities that took place at various educational institutions, localities and rehabilitation centres. The team also presented a painting made by artist Deepanwita Deka to Prof Mukhi from the live painting session organized on the occasion of the International Day of Illicit Trafficking of Drugs as part of the awareness campaign.
Prof Jagdish Mukhi appreciated the entire team of Byatikram MASDO for their tremendous hard work and sincerity towards the campaign. The Governor said: "I am really proud that Byatikram is doing their work with so much effort and ease. I would also request that we need to put an advertisement about the harmful effects of substance abuse at every cinema hall to raise awareness about drug use and other harmful substances. It is very important to educate each and every individual." Dr Saumen Bharatiya said, "We will try to do our best as much as possible with the support of the Government and try to alert people in every possible way to stay away from these harmful substances.
