GUWAHATI: During Zero Hour on Monday in the Lok Sabha, Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha from the Congress Gaurav Gogoi raised the issue of Clause 6 of Assam Accord. On July 17, 2019 the Central government constituted a committee headed by Retd. High Court judge Biplab Kumar Sarma, with a promise of implementing Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, stated a statement sent by Gogoi. The committee submitted its report on February 25, 2020, but despite constituting the committee itself, the Central Government has not yet taken the committee's report, the statement added.

Gogoi pointed out that in the recent answer to the Rajya Sabha, it was revealed that the report of this High Level Committee is still with the State government.

He stressed that the Central government claims that the committee's report be examined by the legal experts of the State.

Further, the Congress leader underlined, "It becomes apparent that the Central government is indulging in delaying tactic to postpone the consideration of the recommended report. The Central government keeps referring to the report in order to mislead the people."

"My specific demand is for the Government to clarify that when it will accept the report by the committee constituted under Retd. High Court Judge, Biplab Kumar Sarma for recommendations on implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord," Gogoi added.
