Chartered Accountants’ national conference concludes at Pragjyoti ITA Centre, Guwahati

The National Conference of Chartered Accountants, inaugurated on December 1 at Pragjyoti ITA Centre for Performing Arts in Guwahati, concluded successfully on Saturday.

 GUWAHATI: The National Conference of Chartered Accountants, inaugurated on December 1 at Pragjyoti ITA Centre for Performing Arts in Guwahati, concluded successfully on Saturday. Distinguished guests, including CA. Aniket Sunil Talati, President ICAI, marked the event’s inauguration, unveiling the conference theme, ‘Shaaswat: The Profession is Eternal.’

On the inaugural day of the conference, participants engaged in insightful discussions on current and sensitive topics related to direct taxes and the future trajectory of the profession. The initial technical session, led by renowned direct tax expert CA. (Dr.) Girish Ahuja from New Delhi, delved into the intricacies of land development, including joint development agreements, and the prospective landscape of direct tax practice in India. CA. Sunil Talati, past president of ICAI, chaired this session. The subsequent technical session featured a panel discussion on the future of the CA profession, moderated by CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, Immediate Past President of ICAI, with esteemed CAs, including CA. Amarjit Chopra (New Delhi) and Vijay Kumar Jhalani (New Delhi), participating as panellists. The day concluded with a motivational session on stress management by Dr. Mukunda Madhava Das from ISCON-Mumbai.

The second day featured sessions on goods and service tax, led by indirect tax expert CA. Bimal Jain (New Delhi), addressing pressing issues related to input tax credit in GST. Additionally, Justice (Retd.) Akil Qureshi (Ahmedabad) delivered insights into the intricacies of the reverse charge mechanism under GST. The final technical session comprised a panel discussion on the stock market and the Indian economy, facilitated by capital market expert Vijay Kishanlal Kedia (Kolkata) and moderated by CA. Ravi Kumar Patwa, immediate past chairman of the EIRC of ICAI. The day concluded with a motivational session delivered by Dr. Kiran Bedi (New Delhi), the first woman IPS officer and former Lt. Governor of Puducherry.

CA Swati Tejawat, Chairperson of the Media and Publicity Committee for the conference, informed us that the conference was successfully concluded on Saturday evening in the presence of the Chairman of the Guwahati Branch, CA. (Dr.) Ayush Saraf, and other Managing Committee Members, as well as a galaxy of past chairmen of the branch, stated a press release.
