Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma undertook a visit of the city on Sunday

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma undertook a visit of the city on Sunday, mainly to inspect the functioning of streetlights. Sarma left Dispur, went to the Basistha highway via Khanapara, passed through Jalukbari and Maligaon and returned to Dispur via Narengi.

The Chief Minister later said that he found around 30 percent of streetlights were non-functional and added that he will ask the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to take steps to have them restored within two months. He further said that he will look into the traffic and waterlogging problems of the city as well.

Sarma also informed that the Sarab Bhatti flyover will be completed by Durga Puja, while the Maligaon flyover will be completed by Durga Puja next year and the RG Baruah road flyover will be completed by 2024. He was accompanied on his trip by GMC Commissioner Devashish Sharma and other Government officials.
