GUWAHATI: Both the children who were rescued from the house of doctor couple Dr Walliul Islam and Dr Sangeeta Datta were sexually assaulted, said Assam DGP GP Singh.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, GP Singh said that both the kids underwent a medical examination, and the report speaks of involvement in penetrative sexual assault. The DGP said, “As earlier a case was already registered on the medical report of the girl, now another case is being registered on the grounds of the recent medical reports of the boy child. The medical examination was conducted by a multi-specialty team of forensics, paediatrics, surgeons, and a combined team, and the report was submitted to the Guwahati police.”

The DGP further said, “As this is a sensational abuse case, a full investigation process will be conducted. This investigation process will be foolproof, and under no circumstances she or he will be allowed to go scot-free.”

Further, he said, “Based on forensic and circumstantial evidences, a chargesheet will have to be submitted within the stipulated time period. As there are two medical reports, naturally there are two victim cases, so both the cases will be solved under the same process, and chargesheets will have to be submitted.”

On the other hand, another female worker was detained by the Guwahati police on Monday who worked in the house of Dr Sangeeta Datta and Dr Walliul Islam. Additionally, according to Dr Sangeeta’s statement, in which she stated that a woman had handed her the two children, the police are also looking into the matter. The police are trying to find the identity and details of this woman, and from where she had brought the two children.
