CM Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciates efforts of National Cadet Corps

GUWAHATI: Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lauded the pivotal role played by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in channelizing the power of youth in constructive activities and instilling a sense of discipline in them.

Sarma expressed this view when Major General Gagan Deep, the new Additional Director General (ADG ) of NCC in the North-East region, called on the Chief Minister on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister assured him of all assistance from the State Government. Major General Gagan Deep thanked the Chief Minister for proactive steps taken in facilitating the role of NCC in the Northeastern region.

During the meeting the Chief Minister mentioned various schemes undertaken by the Assam Government in facilitating the role of the NCC in the State and assured Major General Gagan Deep of unstinted support to the NCC in its noble cause.

The officer was accompanied by Lieutenant Commander Debanand Doley, Commanding Officer of 48 Assam Naval Unit of NCC, Guwahati, to discuss the upcoming Naval Jetty at Saraighat Lake in Amingoan under the aegis of the Chief Miister. The Chief Minister also conveyed his best wishes to members of the Republic Day Parade contingent of the NCC, NER and promised to meet them at an opportune time, informed a press release.
