CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inspects sites of new office buildings in Guwahati

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inspected the proposed sites identified for construction of the new office buildings

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inspected the proposed sites identified for construction of the new office buildings of the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati City and Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) at Khanapara and Rupnagar respectively, on Wednesday.

Inspecting the sites, Chief Minister Sarma asked the departments concerned to expedite the preliminary works of the proposed buildings so that construction works could be completed within a timeframe.

Later, Dr Sarma also inspected the sites of the erstwhile DC Bungalow, residence of DGP, SP etc. at the Brahmaputra River Front in Panbazar. He also inspected the plots adjacent to the Ropeway Terminal at Kachari, Guwahati. After inspection, the Chief Minister directed the authority to demolish all government buildings along the river which have not completed 100 years for beautification of the river front. However, the Chief Minister directed to preserve the buildings which are more than 100 years old to transform them into heritage buildings.

Housing & Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal, DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, Police Commissioner, Guwahati City Harmeet Singh, DC Biswajit Pegu, senior officers of PWD (Buildings & NH), GMC, GMDA etc. were present during the CM's visit to the sites.
