GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma released a book titled 'Mrityunjay Bharat' written by noted social worker and intellectual Sankar Das at a programme organized by Alok Prabhanjan Welfare Society at Rabindra Bhawan in Guwahati on Thursday.
According to a press release, on the occasion the Chief Minister felicitated five noted personalities of the State and presented awards to them for their significant contribution to the society. The awards were instituted by the Dainandin Barta group. This includes Alok Prabhanjan award to noted singer Sudakshina Sarma, Dainandin Barta award to environmentalist Jadav Payeng and Assam Rising felicitation to senior journalist Bhaben Ghimire, businessman Paban Agarwalla and youth entrepreneur Ravi Choudhury.
The Chief Minister said during his speech said that 'Mrityunjay Bharat' is a unique interpretation of many unexplored facets of the 5000-year-old Indian civilization. This book gives the readers an opportunity to draw inspiration from the country's past and will help them to identify a newer outlook. The Chief Minister further said that the book would significantly help the younger generation to analyse many known and unknown facts from a new perspective.
Appreciating writer Sankar Das for penning down this timely and valuable book, Sarma urged the publication house to take steps for translating the book into different languages to benefit readers from across the country. He also hoped that the book would be read and appreciated by all.
While founder of Alok Prabhanjan Welfare Society, Dainandin Barta and Assam Rising media group Sankar Gohain delivered the welcome speech, the programme was also addressed by author Sankar Das.
The programme was also attended by MLA Taranga Gogoi and several other dignitaries.
