GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal offered floral tribute to the portrait of Mahabir Lachit Borphukan on the occasion of Lachit Divas at his official residence in Guwahati on Tuesday. The Chief Minister on the occasion urged the youths to dedicate themselves to nation-building following LachitBorphukan's ideals of valour, sacrifice, patriotism and high ethical values, stated a release.
It may be mentioned that though the State level celebration was scheduled to be held at Dhemechi in Dibrugarh district, the programme was cancelled following the observation of three-day State mourning on account of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's death on Monday.
