Cocaine supplier Bishal Kusum Choudhury from Dibrugarh held in Delhi

A team of the Special Squad of Guwahati Police on Saturday, brought on remand Bishal Kusum Choudhury — the accused supplier of cocaine for the rave birthday party in an apartment at Kharghuli here recently.

GUWAHATI: A team of the Special Squad of Guwahati Police on Saturday, brought on remand Bishal Kusum Choudhury — the accused supplier of cocaine for the rave birthday party in an apartment at Kharghuli here recently. Earlier on Friday, Choudhury was arrested from Dilshad Garden in New Delhi. The operation was jointly conducted by the personnel of Guwahati Police in coordination with the Special Cell of Delhi Police.

Following a tipoff, the city Police conducted a raid at the apartment during that night when a birthday party was on in full swing there. Besides arresting 18 persons on the spot, the Police also recovered a huge cache of narcotics inluding cocaine from the location. They were arrested on a number of charges including violation of COVID protocol and also for possession fo narcotics.

Police sources said that Vishal Choudhury (28 years) had supplied the drugs to Ashok Barman, who is one of the 18 arrested persons present in the birthday bash.

Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Harmeet Singh said, "Techincal analysis combined with human intelligence further led to Bishal being traced to the area in Delhi."

It has been learnt that the Choudhury family is from Dibrugarh district. However, while his parents presently reside at Srinagar, Nalinibala Devi Path, in Dispur; Choudhury is staying in New Delhi.

Latasil Police presented him before the Court of Chief Judicial magistrate here on Saturday. The Court remanded Choudhury to nine days of Police custody.
