* 'Six road projects costing Rs 3,000 crore will begin soon'
GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed the PWD (Roads) to complete the Guwahati-North Guwahati connecting bridge by March 2023. He also informed the media that the works of six important road projects with an estimated cost of Rs 3,000 crore will start soon.
The Chief Minister visited the office of the Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads) (EAP) at Fatasil Ambari in Guwahati on Wednesday and reviewed the implementation status of various bridge construction projects. The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of construction of the Guwahati-North Guwahati connecting bridge and proposed Palasbari-Sualkuchi connecting bridge, besides the construction of roads under the "Asom Mala" project.
Apprising the Chief Minister about the construction status of the Guwahati-North Guwahati connecting bridge, the PWD officials said that around 37% of works of the bridge have been completed.
Keeping this in view, the Chief Minister directed the department to complete the bridge by March 2023.
Further while taking stock of the proposed Palasbari-Sualkuchi connecting bridge, the Chief Minister directed the department to make it a four-lane bridge and to finalize modalities and the DPR for the project. The alignment of the bridge was also finalized in the meeting while modalities of fund allocation, technical details were also discussed.
Moreover, reviewing various projects under the "Asom Mala", the Chief Minister directed the department to ensure timely completion of all road and bridge projects. He also asked them to prepare DPRs for bridges over Ghunasuti river in Lakhimpur and the bridge connecting Kumarikata with Jalah over the Pagladia river, a press release said.
