GUWAHATI: BJP Assam Pradesh president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has said that the Congress-AIUDF alliance is going to benefit the BJP.

Speaking at a function organized for the release of the party's mouthpiece – BJP Varta – at AtalBihari Vajpayee Bhawan here on Sunday, Dass said, "Even as the Congress-AIUDF alliance is going to pose us a challenge in some LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies), we're set to wrest seats like that of Sorupathar, Golaghat, Mariani, Nazira, Titabor, Sivasagar, Naoboicha, North Karimganj and Lakhipur from them.

"The fact remains that the Congress is scared of the rise of the AIUDF in some of the LACs, and that has led it raise issues like Miya Museum. The rise of the AIUDF at Baghbor LAC is a threat for Congress MLA Sherman Ali. Locked in such a trap, KamalakshyaPurkayastha has also raised the demand for the setting up of a Bengali Museum at SrimantaSankaradevaKalakshetra. However, he hasn't even got the support of the Bengalis."

Meanwhile, 36 people, including artistes and Congress members, joined the BJP at the function.
