GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Wednesday expelled its executive member and former Cabinet Minister Nilamani Sen Deka from the Congress for "repeatedly violating party discipline."

APCC general secretary (administration) Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee informed that the expulsion has been done as per the directive of APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah.

He stated that Nilamani Sen Deka had been earlier asked several times not to make harmful statements against the party. However, Sen Deka has been indulging in anti-party activities despite having given a written assurance to adhere to party discipline, Bhattacharjee added.
