GUWAHATI: A booklet titled Hepahor Jalukbari Kisu Porikolpona of Congress candidate from Jalukbari constituency, Romen Chandra Borthakur was released here on Wednesday. The booklet was released by Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Bhuyan, former MP Balin Kuli, and AICC spokesperson Rituparna Konwar.

Addressing the media here, Borthakur slammed the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) for failing to complete the construction of water supply projects that were started during the Congress regime.

The water supply projects are — North Guwahati Water Supply Project, East Guwahati Water Supply Project, Central Guwahati Water Supply Project, and West Guwahati Water Supply Project.

Borthakur stated that he has highlighted the 'fake promises' made by Jalukbari MLA Himanta Biswa Sarma in the booklet.

He underlined that after getting elected he will take immediate steps to complete the water supply projects, stop earth cutting, renovate the roads, control flash floods, and develop the rural areas of the constituency.

He also promised to set up a cold storage facility at Bezera-Mandakata.

Further, he asserted that the people of Assam have welcomed the Mahajoot (grand alliance) candidates.

"The BJP is already feeling that Mahajoot will form the next government in the State. Recently, a BJP leader tried to lure me to withdraw my nomination," Borthakur added.
