GUWAHATI: Family members of Avdesh Kumar Yadav, the businessman who was shot dead by two bike-borne miscreants on Monday night, suspect that contract killers had been engaged to execute the killing.
Two bike-borne miscreants shot five rounds at Avdesh Kumar Yadav at Chatribari in the city on Monday evening. Two bullets hit his chest while three rounds were fired in the air. Yadav was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition. He later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Sources said that Yadav owned four garment shops in Fancy Bazar, a hardware shop in the city, a garment shop in Imphal and eight trucks. Besides, he was also a partner in a noodles factory. Family sources said that Yadav had three brothers. Two of them who lived in Bihar had also been killed years ago. They were Ram Prabesh Yadav and Naresh Yadav. Family sources further expressed suspicion about the involvement of one W Yadav in the murder of Avdesh Kumar Yadav.
Meanwhile, the Pulsar bike (AS13D4033) that was used by the miscreants and later left abandoned at the shooting site, has been seized by the police. In connection with this bike, three persons from Sipajhar have been detained. They are Abbas Ali, Akash Ali and Ismail Ali. They are being interrogated at Paltan Bazar police station. Police sources said that a .22 pistol had been used to shoot at Avdesh Kumar Yadav.
A case has been registered at Paltan Bazar PS case no. 105/22/u/s302/34 IPC R/W 25 (1-A)/ 27 Arms Act. Investigation in on.
