GUWAHATI: The 'All Assam Primary TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) Qualified Teachers Association' has demanded equal status with the regular teachers. The organization further demanded the release of the pending DA (Dearness Allowance) within December.
Talking to the media here on Wednesday, the organization president -- Traloikyo Deka said, "There are 40,000 primary school TET qualified teachers across the State. But, our services have not been regularised.
"However on July 1, 2019, a Cabinet decision stated that we would be provided with the status of the regularised teachers. According to the Cabinet decision, we would be provided all the decisions enjoyed by then regular teachers. But, the government has not yet implemented that decision."
Deka alleged, "While the regular teachers are enjoying 31% DA, we are getting only 12% DA. On the other hand, from July 2019, the government increased our DA thrice -- 5%, 11%, and 3% -- a total of 19%. However, we have not got the increment DA. So, we urge the State government to release the increased DA."
Deka added, "We have already discussed the matter with the Education Minister and the high-level officials of the Department. But, there was no positive response. Hence, we seek the interference of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the matter.
