It is pertinent to mention here that the containment zone tag was removed from several areas after an elapse of 14 days as no new cases were detected.

The areas formerly declared as Containment Zones are:

Spanish Garden campus, Athgaon mosque and kabarsthan, residential campus of Dr. B. Barooah Cancer Institute, Amiyo Nagar in Chandmari, Girls' Hostel campus of the Regional Dental College, Fancy Bazar area, Kumarpara, Santipur Pubali Path, Fatasil GS Colony, Panbazar Railway Colony, Rukminigaon area, Katahbari area, Fatasil Tiniali, Haryana Bhavan, Bihari Patty/Bhootnath, Bishnupur in Fatasil, Gopal Nagar in Noonmati, Dinesh Ojha Path in Tarun Nagar, CRPF Group Centre, 9th Mile, and Lakhitari under Khetri Police Station.

Meanwhile, the Assam Health Department has substituted the colour coding of districts based on contamination level, with the 'containment zone-and buffer zone' mechanism.

"Our containment policy is this – when a case is detected in an area, that area will be visited by the Deputy Commissioner and the District Health A and the area that could be infected by the patient that will be marked as a containment zone and an area surrounding that will be marked as buffer zone", Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed media last month.
