GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed to set up a 24x7 control room with dedicated manpower and open a helpline to address queries and issues of people on emergency and essential services in the State in the wake of novel coronavirus outbreak.
Reviewing the actions taken by various departments of the State Government to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential goods and services on Wednesday, the Chief Minister directed the deployment of staff in three shifts who would receive calls from public and contact with respective departments and district administration to address their issues.
To ensure smooth movement of essential goods, the Chief Minister directed the departments concerned to entrust a team of officials who will look after the issues all throughout the lockdown period. He also directed issuance of e-pass to goods carriers so that the supply chain is not affected. Sonowal also directed the departments to take steps to maintain supply of animal feeds uninterruptedly in the State.
The Chief Minister also took stock of health facilities available to deal with coronavirus outbreak. He directed the Municipal authoritative to aggressively carry out a drive to sanitize all public places across the State. He also asked the Health department to take steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of medicine for critically ill patients.
The Chief Minister directed the DGP to ensure strict monitoring of rumour mongers and especially social media platforms so that people do not panic. He also instructed to keep the gaonburas, teachers, opinion leaders, BDOs, COs fully alert to deal with rumours.
Steps taken by the Power Department and Prisons were also discussed at the meeting. It was attended by Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta and others, a press release said.
