GUWAHATI: The students of Cotton University staged a silent protest outside the university campus in Panbazar on Friday. The demonstration was against the move to introduce the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) in Parliament. Raising placards with slogans that read ‘Scrape CAB’ ‘CAB is unconstitutional’, etc. the students covered their mouths with black cloths.
Speaking to the media, a student of CU said, “We'll never accept the Bill. It will annihilate the culture and tradition of the indigenous people of the State. We will also never be intimidated by anyone, be it the Prime Minister or the Chief Minister. If needed, we will sacrifice ourselves for our motherland, but we will never allow the unconstitutional Bill to be passed.”
