GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, around 30 students of Cotton University (CU) allegedly vandalized a roadside restaurant on Tuesday evening following a heated argument with a worker and the owner of the eatery.

According to Panbazar Police, two students went to the restaurant named Delhi 6 Barbeque near the University to buy water bottles.

"A heated argument broke out between a worker of the restaurant and the two students after the former said he cannot understand the Assamese language. After the owner of the restaurant, Samir Ahmed intervened, the students argued with the former as to why he has employed a person who doesn't understand the Assamese language. Later, a group of around 30 students came and vandalized the shop and injured the owner of the stall," said the police.

The police rushed to the spot to neutralize the situation during which a student named Deepjyoti Barman was caught 'red handed'. However, other students from the group fled the spot. The police said that a section of students from Sitanath Brahma Choudhury Hostel of the University were involved in the vandalism.
