COVID-19 Positivity Rate in Kamrup (M) Decreases

In a good sign, the Kamrup (M) has witnessed a significant decrease in COVID-19 positive cases and the death rate in recent days.

GUWAHATI: In a good sign, the Kamrup (M) has witnessed a significant decrease in COVID-19 positive cases and the death rate in recent days. Notably, as on May 23, Guwahati recorded the least number of COVID-19 cases with only 11 deaths registered.

It is to be mentioned here that from May 1 till May 23, the city recorded 28211 COVID-19 positive cases with 428 deaths. Further the highest death recorded was on May 11 in which 35 people succumbed to covid infection with 1585 positive cases from the city only.

Further from May 18, the COVID-19 situation has slowly improved with 921 cases recorded. 913 cases on May 19, however, on May 20 COVID positive cases again surpassed the 1000 benchmark.

On May 21, Kamrup (M) recorded 907 cases, 902 cases on May 22 and 624 cases respectively on May 23, and 729 cases on today.

According to the official at NHM, currently in Guwahati records 8513 active cases in which 6304 patients are under home isolation while 2209 patients are under hospital isolation and 1117 patients were discharged as on May 23. On the other hand, from May 26 onwards the district administration has decided to conduct COVID-19 testing in all market places in the city with accordance to the ongoing door-to-door COVID testing drive by the health department.
