STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI:

COVID-19 Guidelines During Assam Election 2021: The Government of Assam is appealing to the general public of the State to adhere to Covid-19 protocol in public places in day-to-day life. However, a section of Ministers and MLAs is not following any Covid-19 protocol.

This has been proved by huge gathering of masses in public meetings, rally which are organized by different political parties for the Assembly election.

The government is appealing to the public to wear mask and to maintain 2 feet distance in public places but such rules are not followed when there are meetings, political rallies of various political parties in the State. Is there a different Covid-19 protocol for political leaders?

The government has warned that the second wave of Covid-19 has arrived in the State, but it is to be noted that most of the Bihu Samitis have made up their minds to organize Rongali Bihu functions this year. Till now, no government instruction has been issued in connection with this issue.

A student of Guwahati Commerce College said, "If the government is appealing to us to follow Covid-19 protocols, they should also maintain the same."

A student of Assam Textile Institute said, "For votes the government can do anything, they can put the public life at stake. All the concern they show for the public is fake. It's only for the sake of votes only."
